Data sources
CPSC recall database and NHTSA child restraint recalls. Refreshed daily. The freshness timestamps printed on every screening are real, monitored values.

What happens when a database goes stale
If any database we screen against has not refreshed within 72 hours, screening stops. We do not fall back to older data and we do not quietly narrow what we check — a screening record that claims a freshness it does not have is worse than no record at all, because someone would rely on it.
What we do not check
Item condition. Prior damage or repair. Counterfeit goods. Products never registered with a federal agency. Recalls issued outside the United States. A screening tells you whether an item matches a published federal recall. It does not tell you the item is safe, and we will never write a sentence that says it does.
